Happy 2nd Birthday!!

Today is Wrigley and Cobalt's second birthday!!! Things have been so hectic that it completely slipped my mind. Thankfully, we got an e-mail from KC reminding us that today was their birthday!! Phew! I can't believe the boys are already two years old. It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing them home from the animal rescue.

I am at work right now so I don't have many pictures but for now, I'll post two that just happen to be on photobucket.

Here is Wrigley.
And Cobalt!

Everyone is doing great! Chris and I just bought our first house last Friday and they are absolutely loving it. We were temporarily in a one bedroom apartment for the last few months so they had no room to run and play so now that they have a whole house they are going crazy!! It's great to have our fun, active kitties back.

Our internet gets hooked up tomorrow and I will try to start posting more often!

Okay I know I hardly ever post anymore so I doubt anyone will even see this. But it is just so freaky I have to share. I'm going to just copy and paste from my personal journal.

Okay, this is so totally freaky!!! Well, I guess not really, but my stomach is in knots just thinking about it. So as you all know last October we adopted Penelope when they were having a pet fair type thing at Petsmart. Well now every time we go to Petsmart I go over to the area where they have the kitties, they usually have about 6-8 cats. (When we got Penelope it was a big event and the shelter brought in TONS more) So anyways, today we went to Petsmart and of course, I had to go look at the cats. So I walked up to the glass and before I even got to the glass, a black kitty in one of the top cages jumped down, ran to the front of it's cage, and let out a huge meow. Of course I had to run in to meet her. Turns out the kitties name was Pammy and she was SO friendly. She was rubbing up against the cage the whole time so I could pet her whole body. The second I'd stop, she'd stick one of her paws out and try to tap me so that I would pet her some more. So cute!!

Anyways, my aunts name is Pam so tonight I called her to tell her we met a super friendly cat with the same name. I decided to go to the animal shelters website to get Pammy's picture so I could e-mail it to my aunt. Though first, I decided to go look at the adopted pets section and look at Penelope. I found her (she was then called City Girl) and read her little blurb. Guess what it said?!

"I am very sweet and friendly. I came to Hart without a mom, by Pammy and her litter welcomed me to the family. We are great together and would be happy to be placed in a home with another kitty or maybe one of my foster brothers or sisters (see Kittens-Pammy's babies)"

So then I found Pammy's page and read her blurb...

"Hi, I am Pammy. I was found wandering the streets of Frederickburg very pregnant. We are pretty sure that my family moved and left me behind. Fortunately for me, Hart brought me in and gave me a safe and comfortable place to have my babies (see Kittens - Pammy's Babies). In return, I agreed to adopt a tiny little stray kitty from Washington DC (see Kitten - City Girl). Now that my mothering days are finished and I'm spayed, I am very eager to have a home and family to call my own. I love attention and petting. I love playtime, too! "

I absoultely can't believe it. Pammy is practically Penelope's mommy!!! It's so crazy. Now I feel all super attached and like I need to find Pammy a good home because she took care of Penelope when she had no one. So Heather....when you move to a place of your own...adopt Pammy!!!! Oh I seriously hope I can find someone to adopt Pammy. We got Penelope nearly 7 months ago, so that means Pammy has been there for quite some time. I hate seeing pets locked up like that. Oh gosh, it's just so heartbreaking.

Howdy!

I got nudged to post, so here I am!! Sorry we haven't been around much lately. The year got off to a stressful start but hopefully it will get better.

I'm going to begin with our precious Wolfie. He was our family cat "growing up". We got him around my sophomore year of high school when our neighbor found him as a stray and couldn't keep him. My dad HATES cats, but my mom and I persisted and he finally let us keep him. Okay, we didn't ask, we just brought him home!! Anyways, on January 31, Wolfie made his journey to the Rainbow Bridge. My dad couldn't find him and searched the entire house. He finally looked in the basement and found him passed away in a back corner. We think he was heartbroken by the death of my mom in July and just couldn't stand being alone. I miss him SO much. He was around 8 or 9 years old.

RIP Wolfie

Secondly, the day after Wolfie died I suffered a miscarriage. Chris and I found out two days after Christmas that I was expecting our first child in early September. However, things didn't progress as planned and we lost our little baby. I'm still in shock over everything, but I know God has something great planned for us, and our time to be parents will come soon enough.

Finally, earlier this month Miss Penelope had her lady bits removed. She was NOT a happy camper and many funny pictures ensued.
Not her most flattering pose, but I think it was HILARIOUS. She was attempting to get at her incision.

Oh, and here are some other pictures of the little lady. Here she is sitting in a funny pose, and you can really see how much shes grown. She's not nearly as big as either of the boys, but when we adopted her they said she would be a tiny cat.

And her Valentines Day dress. She really is darling.

Finally I have our Christmas picture. Thankfully everyone was pretty cooperative and I think we got a pretty decent one.

Sorry again for not posting too much!! We're in Connecticut right now visiting Chris' family but we head back to Virginia tomorrow so I will do my best to get into a regular posting routine! I hope you all are doing well.

Happy Gotcha Day!!

Today is our boys Gotcha Day!!! I can't believe we have had them for a whole year already. Time sure flies.

This photo was taken at their foster home right before we brought them home.

Here are two of my favorite pictures from once we got them. They were so tiny!!

And here they are nearly a year later. They have grown up quite nicely I think. This is Cobalt.

And here is Wrigley.

My New Years Resolution was to post more, and obviously that isn't happening!! We've had some stuff going on, and hopefully sometime in the next 2 weeks I'll be able to say more, and start posting more as well!!

Poor Wrigley

Oh poor Wrigley!! Penelope seems to think that Wrigley is her mommy and enjoys suckling from him. Obviously no milk comes out, but Penelope gets endless amounts of pleasure from it. She spends several hours a day doing this, and Wrigley just lays there and takes it. What a trooper!!

Sorry it's pretty dark. But you can hear Penelope and see her little white paws. You can see a little bit more towards the end. Even though you can't see much, it's still really cute!

I just can't stop looking at Penelope. She is so cute and I just want to scoop her up and kiss her every chance I get. She is so dang tiny and that just makes her all the more loveable.

Penelope with my cousin Connor who is 8 months old.

Penelope modeling her cute new sweater. It's size XS and still ENORMOUS on her!!

Penelope trying to show her "scardy cat" pose. So tiny and intimidating...not!!

Her head shot. Isn't she gorgeous?!?!

ACK!!

Wow, we certainly have been absent a lot lately! Sorry guys. Things have been so hectic lately I can barely keep up with everything. After I posted last, Wrigley ran into a little trouble with his neuter. His incision site was bleeding and we had blood trailed all over the apartment. He also had diarrhea. The following day, off to the vet we went. It seemed that his incision was just a little irritated, but okay...as for the poops...he had coccidia...AGAIN!! 10 days of pilling later, he was good as new and pooping like a champ.

The day after his medicine ended, Chris and I were off to Saint Louis for my college roommates wedding. We had an excellent time, but our flight back got screwed up and we ended up having to drive home to Virginia which took us 13 hours. Not fun!

Now that we are home, we get to start the process of moving. We get the keys to our new townhouse in 11 days and we can't wait. So things are going to be getting even more hectic since we are doing all of the moving ourselves. My brother-in-law is coming down memorial day weekend so that should be good.

And of course...our two little (and quickly getting bigger) guys are being great snoopervisors.

When they aren't snoopervising, they are knocking down our empty cabinets!
And Cobalt has decided that he likes the "higher" things in life.Yes...one day I heard a thump and this is where I found him. He is quite the daredevil, I must say.
Wrigley decided to sit these adventures out and watch from the sidelines. Errr...the toilet!

They're Back!

This is the boys this morning before they went to the vet for their big hoohaectomies. It was a long day, and I worried a TON, but they are home now and seem to be doing okay.

I got a call from the vet this morning and the vet noticed that Wrigley's big boy teeth were popping through, just like Cobalt's has previously been. So she wanted our permission to pull his baby teeth. We gave the permission and Wrigley had his 2 baby teeth pulled. Besides that, everything went smoothly...or so I thought! HAHA. I got to the vet and she gave us our total which didn't sound right to me. So, I asked if they had done everything we requested. As it turns out, they didn't chip them. So while we were there waiting, they got chipped. It must have hurt because we could hear their cries all the way up in the waiting room. Poor guys.

Anyways, now we are home, and everybody seems to be doing good. Cobalt, though, seems to be really mad. He has been hissing like crazy at Wrigley and won't seem to give him a break. Then Chris decided to hold a mirror in front of him and he hissed at his reflection. So we think he just doesn't like the collars they have to wear. Oh well...7-10 days of this stuff. I don't know how we're going to last that long. Hopefully they'll be healed up good by the end because on the 9th day my mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law are coming and they haven't met the boys yet. So I hope they're in good loving moods. Only time will tell.

Here they are right when we got home. Cute huh? The vet and all the techs just loved them. They said any time ANYBODY walked past their cage they just started crying and meowing like crazy. These boys just loved to be loved. HAHA!
I get to show off Wrigley's new look!
Chris with Cobalt. (Sorry Chris, I know this isn't your most flattering picture)

Wrigley going potty for the first time. I know, not his best place to be posing, but it was a good photo op because he was sitting still.
Laser eyes to beam these collars somewhere far away.

Can we still be man cats even though we do not have man bits? We hope the answer is yes!

Tomorrow is the Big Day!

Sorry I have been so bad at posting recently. Chris and I are in the process of moving (well not really, we'll be moving next month) but we've been in constant contact with a realtor and are trying to find a place to live. Ahhh, talk about stressful.

Tonight, I got home from work, and as usual I picked up Cobalt to check his poor teeth. Well guess what...they fell out! I think my scare tactics worked. I told Cobalt that if his teeth didn't fall out before he got neutered, then they'd probably have to yank them out then. Well what do you know, they fall out the night before! Yay Cobalt, you're on your way to becoming a big boy.

So that, obviously, leads me to my second point. Wrigley and Cobalt are going to be neutered tomorrow. I'll be dropping them off tomorrow morning between 7:00-7:30 and I can pick them up at 5:30. We've elected to do the pre-op blood panel and also fluids under the skin. I'm getting the blood work done just because I'm totally freaked out because of Zeus. If you remember from my introductory post, we had him for about 5 weeks before he died, at the age of 12 weeks, from a congenital kidney defect. So I'm just terrified that we'll run into that same sort of problem. Then we're also going to get them micro chipped.

So tomorrow is going to be a big day for the boys and I know I'll be worried about them all day. So please purrrrray for them and hope that they come through it okay. I'll update again tomorrow once they come home.

Too Many Teeth?!

Howdy! You guys all get to hear from me, the mombean, today! How exciting, right? HAHA.

Anyways, this afternoon I was massaging Cobalts gums and I happened to open his mouth and noticed he has some extra teeth. He has 2 canines on each side.

I don't know how I didn't notice this earlier, so I'm thinking it must have just happened in the last couple of days? Or else I just really haven't been paying enough attention, haha! My guess is that the bigger teeth are his baby teeth and the smaller ones are his adult teeth that have just started to come through. Though I really have no idea. I've done some Google searching and thats all I can seem to find. As you can see in the pictures, his gums look very inflamed, but that could just be because there are 2 teeth in there. They aren't discolored and it doesn't seem to be bothering him. Should I call the vet first thing tomorrow morning? Should I be worried? They go in on April 10th for their neuter, which is only like 2 weeks away. So I guess that gives time for the baby teeth to fall out. And if they don't, they can pull them while he's under the anesthesia for the neuter. I'm just not even sure if thats whats going on. I've never experienced a cat loosing their teeth before. So I'm not sure what to look for. Poor guy!

In more exciting news (for us!) Chris and I had a little "photo shoot" with the boys yesterday. They hated it!!

Here is Wrigley, dressed up as an elephant.
Cobalt waited patiently on the sidelines laughing to himself that poor Wrigley had to put on a ridiculous hat and have his picture taken.
Little did he know, that he would be subjected to the same treatment just a few minutes later.
He was NOT amused.
How about some group shots instead...Take 2...
Take 3...Cobalt looks even madder!!
At least they were rewarded with Temptations!!!

Here We Are!

Sorry we've been so absent lately. Things around the house have been very busy!! My cousin had a baby yesterday, Connor Scott, which is very exciting. Besides that, just still working a lot on working on getting Chris healthy again. He seemed to be feeling good yesterday, so I'm optimistic that whatever he had is out of his system. Yesterday was Valentines day and it was wonderful. After nearly 5 years of dating, this was the very FIRST Valentines Day that Chris and I got to spend together as we were a long distance couple for practically our entire time dating. Chris bought me a card from the boys and decided that they should "sign" it. So Chris traced their paws with permanent marker. (Well only Wrigley since Cobalt was who knows where) Now Wrigley has 2 very green paws...lets hope it's not permanent. :-P

Today, the boys had their vet visit to get their 3rd distemper shot. They both did great. Wrigley is 4.1 pounds and Cobalt is 5.1 pounds. Cobalt has a huge fatty pouch on his belly which the doctor said was normal, so thats probably the cause for his being much heavier than Wrigley. The trip home from the vet was a different story. About 2 minutes into our 5 minute drive home, Cobalt I guess got scared and pooped in the carrier. By the time we got home, both of them had paws just COVERED in poop. They got little poopy paw prints all over our bathroom. I attempted at giving them both baths and now they are clean kitties. Yuck! 3 weeks from now they'll get their final distemper and rabies shot. They we just have to worry about getting them neutered. Wrigley has had diarrhea the past two days which I think MAY be due to his food. We give them each 1/2 a can of Blue Buffalo every day. But Chris also got this "Kitty Milk" at the grocery store which maybe the cause as well. We're going to stop the wet food for a few days and see if the diarrhea goes away. I brought in a sample and they checked and didn't see any Coccidia left, so thats a good sign. They are sending it to a lab for further analysis just to be sure though.

Finally, I will leave you with some photos from the past week.

We'll start with Cobalt. First, him and Wrigley pulled down a blanket from the futon and somehow created themselves this tent. They're mighty talented. We think we should nickname him "SuperKitty" since he slept like this for a good long time.Or makes himself look like an "L".And hanging upside down off a pillow. I don't know how he could possibly be comfortable. Then we shared a moment. He didn't seem to like it too much.Mr Handsome.
And now for Wrigley. He looked ready to play. Then we shared a moment. I think he liked it a little bit more. He is just SO cute.
And some together pictures. They LOVE to cuddle when we sleep. And cuddle when they sleep.Chris would pound me if he knew I posted this, but see how they like to get RIGHT up close! They love to help me blog. And look outside and wish they could be there.
Wednesday, we had an AWFUL ice storm. I've never seen ice like this before. The boys enjoyed it from indoors!
The ice over my WHOLE car was this thick!!
Yesterday, Chris and I bought the boys ties. After all, they are Tuxedo Cats and whats a Tuxedo without a tie?

HEHE, we love them SO much!
