A Little Bit of Everything!

Cobalt: Yay, I get a turn to post again! I love when it's my turn. Today started off not so great. Both of the beans had off from work today so they had this whole idea that they would get to sleep in. Well, Wrigley and I didn't like that idea too much so we tried to sabotage their day of relaxation. Starting around 5:00 am I began crying at their door. Sometimes I even jumped up and tried to grab the handle. Finally I was crying so much that they came and told me to stop. But at 6:30 I was still crying, so they finally let us in. We jumped into bed and cuddled up and got to sleep with them for a while. It was very nice.

Then, we spent the day playing together and snuggling daddy since he was sleeping a lot since he is not feeling very good.

Also, Smudge and Zoe tagged us for a meme.

The rules are:
a) Post who tagged you and link back to them and then to http://www.petspics.blogspot.com/.
b) Then answer this question: What three things would you do that you have never done before, if you knew you wouldn't get caught, get in trouble or suffer any consequences?
c) Then tag 3 other kitties, beans, woofies, or any other assorted animal.

1. I (Cobalt) would knead moms hair ALL the time. I just started doing it yesterday and she doesn't like it because it makes her hair a mat. I'm not sure how your hair can be a mat, but she makes funny faces when she attempts to brush it.

2. Wrigley would explore more in the laundry room. The beans don't let us go in there because they are afraid we will get stuck behind the big machines. Wrigley has tried to get back there before and he always gets scolded.

3. We would be able to eat the beans food whenever we wanted and not have them get mad at us.

We'll tag anyone that hasn't done this yet since we're not sure who has and hasn't.

Thirdly, we received our first award from Meezer Tails!! We have never gotten an award before so this makes us very happy. :-) Thank you furry much! We will add it to our sidebar ASAP.

And finally, some pictures from today.

Wrigley and I were cuddling with mom earlier and we were so comfortable. We made her so warm that she fell asleep and the dadbean took our picture.

Here I am doing that kneading thing. I don't really know why I do it, and neither does mom. Do you know why I do it?

Earlier Wrigley was giving himself a bath and I can be seen in the background.

Since it's my turn to post, I might as well steal the show. Right?
I was looking very handsome today!
Then I rolled over to get a tummy rub from the bean. I look a lot fatter than 4 pounds in this picture. :-X

Then I cuddled Wrigley and we fell asleep.

Geez mom, all these pictures make me tiiiiiiiired.

We're Two Sick BoyCats

Cobalt: Okay so we're not really that sick, but I figured it was a good idea for a title. To begin, I tried to make a post last night with those videos but they were taking forever to load and the bean said we had to go to bed. So, I'm going to post some tonight.

First of all, our sickness. The vet called mommy yesterday and said Wrigley's fecal came back positive for Coccidia. Mommy said it's a one celled organism that lives in the intestines. Wrigley had to go back to the vet today to get some pills that mommy shoves down his throat. Even though they didn't take in my poop, I have to take the medicine too. It's not too much fun, but I don't want to be sick forever, so I guess I'll put up with it. Mommy and daddy already had so much sadness with Zeus, we don't want to make it worse for them.

And now I'll show you guys some videos. The bean hasn't gotten many good ones, so these will have to do for now.

This is Wrigley and I watching daddy point the laser behind the couch. When the flashy box is watching, we don't fall off, but when it isn't watching we do! This is the beans' favorite video.

Here is me and Wrigley wrestling. We sure do that a lot. Mom is still trying to get a good video of us chasing each other. We run ALL over the apartment and it is SO much fun.

Finally, this is me playing with our feather toy. I love jumping to catch it. I'm getting pretty good at doing flips.

We hope you enjoyed us!!

We're Going to Be Some Handsome Mancats!!

Wrigley: Sorry we haven't been so good at posting pictures of ourselves lately. We will try to do better in the future. Mom even said tomorrow we could post movies!!! Anyways, here are some pictures of Cobalt and me.

This is Cobalt and I the day we came to our Furrever home. We like to sit on the dining room chairs sometimes to cuddle up and take a nap.
Cobalt got sick of the bean taking so many pictures, so he stuck his tongue out at her.

I love sleeping!!!! When I sleep, I like to stretch out a lot.
Mom pushed my paws up and it was quite comfy, so I laid like this for a while.
I look cute when I'm looking up to the sky for toys!
And even when I'm looking *kinda* straight at the camera.
Then, the mombean made me pose for a picture with her. I think we look good together. What do you think of her long furrs? She said she is going to have to cut them one day because Cobalt and I like to climb it. I guess it hurts her?
When Cobalt and I aren't playing together, I like to watch TV.

This is Cobalt. He doesn't pose for pictures much, so mombean was really excited to get these.
Mom said he gots good eyes in this one. She also likes the little white spots on his gums, she said something like it makes him look like he gots buck teeth.
This is the first time Cobalt got to try nip that wasn't in a toy. Boy did he go crazy. He was rolling around in it and everything. Then it made him fall asleep, he didn't even put his head on the ground, he was resting it on his leg. He looked very cute.
And these are Cobalt's paws. Aren't they cute?

Sometimes, Cobalt and I will even pose for pictures together. Here is where we usually sleep, on top of our jungle gym.
Mom thought it was super cute when we peeked our heads over the edge.
We hid behind mombean's computer when dadbean brought out the big sucky monster.
When we aren't behind the computer, we're on it...either blogging ourselves or reading our friends' blogs.
And sometimes, we just like to chill by the beans bed.
Oh and this is a comparison of our eyes. Mom thinks we have slightly different colors. Mine are on top and Cobalt's are on the bottom.

We really lead an exciting life, don't cha think? And mom bean says we have to make some announcements. We've had lots of visitors and she's tried to get them all added to our blogroll. If you have left us comments, please check to see if you're on our blogroll. If you aren't, please let us know so that she can add you!!

And finally, she said she posted 2 memes this weekend so that you all can learn some more about us. She thought she did a pretty funny job!!

PSA

Sorry for all the posts today! But I just wanted to say that our really good friends Delilah and Jezebel have started a blog today. They don't have any friends yet and would really appreciate it if you stopped by to say hello and introduce yourselves. Their mom and I have been friends on livejournal for a really long time, and I've watched these two beauties grow up. They are definitely two great gals.

Another Meme!

Cobalt: Man, we sure are getting popular. We got tagged for another meme today! This time we will be a little more on the ball, and post it the same day we got tagged.

We were tagged by Derby and it's an easy one, all you have to do is tell everyone 3 things that are new with you! Link it back to the kitty who gave it to you and Tigmuthep and pass it on to 3 more kitties you'd like to know more about!

Lets see, everything is new to us and to you since we are very new to blogging, but we will come up with something good.
  • We have discovered that we love sleeping under the beans bed...during the DAY. At night time, we only like to jump on the beans feet and make them stay awake.
  • Yesterday, Wrigley and I went to the vet. It was fun because everybody thought we were cute. They had to stick a sharp thing in my back, but I didn't mind, I didn't even make a meow. But, when they gave me banana flavored medicine, I didn't like it too much. Don't they know bananas are for monkeys? I am certainly not a monkey.
  • Two nights ago, the beans let us sleep in the family room for the first time. Normally, Wrigley and I have to sleep in the "guest bedroom" which is really our bedroom. I guess we've been behaving good since they let us go more places at night. Maybe soon, they will let us sleep in their room too!
Wow, that was fun! We will tag:

Dragonheart & Merlin

Tara, Princess Meezer

and Tybalt, the Prince of Cats

Sorry if you guys have done them before! There are so many memes it's hard to keep track of them all. We've only been here a few days, we can't imagine how those of you who have been here longer keep track! Oh, mom says we can post all of our cute pictures tomorrow!

Meme

We got tagged for a meme!! This is our first meme so we're very excited. It is called Seven Random Things About Me though we will call it Seven Random Things About Us. We were tagged by Pyewacket over at topcatrules. So, here we go:
  • We like wrestling...A LOT. Cobalt is definitely the bossy one and Wrigley is the one who just lays back and takes everything that comes his way.
  • We're still getting used to the flashy box the mom bean uses ALL the time. We more like to play with the little string that hangs off of it. Mom doesn't like it, but we sure think it's fun.
  • Only Wrigley likes treats. We each get one but Wrigley usually eats them both.
  • We're both a little clumsy. Dadbean likes to point the laser pointer at the wall behind the couch. We like to sit on the top of the couch and try to catch it, but sometimes we fall off.
  • We like exploring behind the TV. The beans put paper there and always yell at us when we try to go back, but sometimes it's fun to do what you aren't supposed to be doing.
  • We're working on getting the beans to share their bean food with us. So far it hasn't worked too well. We jump up and smell their plates but then they put us on the floor. We really need to teach them about sharing.
  • Today the beans came home and they had a surprise for us. It's a new litter box! It has big teeth in it and we're a little scared it's going to bite our butts. But we're brave, and went in and tried it anyways. Here is what it looks like:

The beans say it has some ion thing so that our poops won't make the bathroom smell funny. Now if only we could get an ion thing for Wrigley's butt! :-P

We will tag anyone who hasn't done this yet. We've seen it on plenty of blogs already so we're not sure who has and hasn't done it yet. Have fun!

The Vet

Well, I was all set to let the guys post about their big trip today. But they are out cold!! So, I'll just have to do it for them.

The visit went great! They couldn't get over how cute Wrigley and Cobalt are. I knew we had two little cuties.

Wrigley: Wrigley weighed in at 3.06 pounds. I mentioned the diarrhea and the vet didn't seem concerned. She ran a slide and didn't see anything significant, but we're going to be bringing in a fecal sample.

Cobalt: Cobalt weighed in at 4.02 pounds. Practically a whole pound bigger than Wrigley!! I hope he doesn't grow up to be too huge of a guy! But at the rate he's growing, he'll be big pretty fast. :-(

Overall, they said both boys look fantastic. They got their second FCVRP and deworming. We'll be back in two weeks for the next round. We also talked to them about removing their manhood. It was quite amusing because Wrigley had been sitting quietly, minding his own business and giving himself a bath for probably 10 minutes, totally not paying attention to us. Well the second the vet said "Oh yeah, we just cut right in the scrotum" his head shot RIGHT up and all of a sudden he was very focused on hearing what the vet had to say. It gave everyone a good laugh.

So overall a positive report. Now we'll just see if the fecals reveal anything significant.

I'll have the boys post their meme tomorrow and I also got a couple REALLY great pictures today. (For once I thought to maybe take the camera out in the daylight instead of trying to take all the pictures at night time!!!)

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Scardey Cat

I'm worried about the boys. They seemed fine when I went to work this morning but Chris texted me during the day that Cobalt wouldn't even come near him. Now Cobalt has always been shy, but he's started warming up to us. We can't approach him, but he'll approach us. Tonight, he won't come anywhere near us. It's so weird. It's like we're back at square one. He is so skiddish. Just a minute ago we gave them their night time feeding and Cobalt is always the HUGE eater, but I was sitting by the dish petting Wrigley, and Cobalt wouldn't even come close to us. It's so strange.

Then this morning before I left, I picked up Wrigley and his bottom was wet. I picked up his tail and could immediately tell that it was urine. In the process he got some on my arm and I noticed there was some poop as well. I got a kleenex and wiped his butt, and saw that there was some blood. Not much, but it still worried me. I checked the boxes and didn't see anything worrisome, but I'm still a little nervous.

I know both of these things are probably nothing, but after what happened with Zeus, it's hard to let anything go unnoticed. Thankfully, they have their first kitten checkup with our vet tomorrow so I'll mention something then and see what they say. We'll see how they act as the night goes on.

Thanks again for all of your warm welcomes, after Chris and I eat dinner, I'll continue to check out all of your blogs and reply back! We have had SO many visitors!! And I'll even try to make a picture post too, because that first picture, doesn't do their cuteness any justice!! Of course, I may be a little biased. :-P

Hi Everyone!

Guess what guess what? Mom said that WE get to post today. How exciting is that? She doesn't know if she'll let us do it all the time, but hey, at least it's a start.

Today, something very sad happened, and now mom is down in the dumps. Tonight this is what we saw:

Can you believe it? Our dad left us. Mom keeps telling us that he had to go to some place called work. But who works during the night? We're supposed to be sleeping!! It will certainly be lonely without him. Maybe mom will even let us sleep in their room. But sometimes, even though mom and dad look like they are sleeping, we think they want to play. So we just jump around, but that usually doesn't make them happy and they make us sleep in a guest room. At least we get to be together!

Well, mom says we have to go to bed now because it's getting late and she has to go to work in the morning. She says we got tagged on something called a Meme and she will help us do it tomorrow. Also, we have commented back to many of you who have welcomed us, but haven't had the chance to get to everyone just yet. We will continue commenting and adding to our list tomorrow!

What's In A Name?

I thought it would be a good idea to say why we named our guys what we did. So, this is their story.

Wrigley: I grew up in Chicago...lived there for 22 years 11/12 months of my life before I got married and moved to New York. Even though I grew up on the south side, I have always been a devoted Cubs fan. The Cubs, of course, play at Wrigley Field...hence our first kitty being named Wrigley. Even if they are up to be sold, and the stadium gets a new name...it will always be Wrigley Field to me.

Cobalt: For some reason, I happened to bring up the periodic table of elements. I came across "Cobalt" and it just clicked. Also, my favorite NASCAR driver, Jimmie Johnson, endorses a brand of tools called Kobalt. So, it completely fit.

So, this is how Wrigley and Cobalt came to be!! Certainly sounds better than "Green Collar" and "Red Collar" which we'd been calling them since we brought them home.

Our First Post

Hi! I decided to start this blog as a means to update solely on our two kittens, Wrigley and Cobalt. I will start with a little introduction of myself so you all can get to know me better.

My name is Stephanie and I'm 23 years old. I am married to Christopher since March 24, 2007. We have lived in Northern Virginia since May of 2007. I grew up my entire life having pets. Over the years we have always had dogs, we had one rabbit, and one cat. So when I left my family in Chicago after getting married, I knew I needed to have another pet. Christopher, however, has never had a pet before. So this is definitely a new experience for him.

In July of 2007, Christopher and I adopted 6-week-old Zeus.

Zeus, unfortunately, only got to live with us for about 5.5 weeks. He was very sick since we got him, and battled a horrible Upper Respiratory Infection which required him to be on oxygen and also take steam baths every hour in order to reduce the mucous in his system. In the end, Zeus' health drastically declined and we ended up rushing him to the Emergency Clinic. There, we found out that Zeus had a congenital problem which caused his kidneys to be malformed at birth. We were told there was nothing we could do, and had to put him down that very same night.

Since our loss of Zeus, we knew that we wanted to adopt again. After visiting Petfinder, I came across two very adorable little kitties. I e-mailed an inquiry on adopting one of them and later found out they wanted to keep the pair together. After a lot of thinking, Chris and I decided to go ahead and adopt them both. After 10 days of communication and interviews, we finally got to bring our two boys home. Wrigley and Cobalt were born on November 4, 2007, making them 11 weeks old.

Exactly one week ago today, on January 15, 2007...we got to meet for the first time, and bring home, Wrigley and Cobalt. We love them both very much and are so happy to have them with us.

Cobalt is on the left and Wrigley is on the right!
