Our First Post

Hi! I decided to start this blog as a means to update solely on our two kittens, Wrigley and Cobalt. I will start with a little introduction of myself so you all can get to know me better.

My name is Stephanie and I'm 23 years old. I am married to Christopher since March 24, 2007. We have lived in Northern Virginia since May of 2007. I grew up my entire life having pets. Over the years we have always had dogs, we had one rabbit, and one cat. So when I left my family in Chicago after getting married, I knew I needed to have another pet. Christopher, however, has never had a pet before. So this is definitely a new experience for him.

In July of 2007, Christopher and I adopted 6-week-old Zeus.

Zeus, unfortunately, only got to live with us for about 5.5 weeks. He was very sick since we got him, and battled a horrible Upper Respiratory Infection which required him to be on oxygen and also take steam baths every hour in order to reduce the mucous in his system. In the end, Zeus' health drastically declined and we ended up rushing him to the Emergency Clinic. There, we found out that Zeus had a congenital problem which caused his kidneys to be malformed at birth. We were told there was nothing we could do, and had to put him down that very same night.

Since our loss of Zeus, we knew that we wanted to adopt again. After visiting Petfinder, I came across two very adorable little kitties. I e-mailed an inquiry on adopting one of them and later found out they wanted to keep the pair together. After a lot of thinking, Chris and I decided to go ahead and adopt them both. After 10 days of communication and interviews, we finally got to bring our two boys home. Wrigley and Cobalt were born on November 4, 2007, making them 11 weeks old.

Exactly one week ago today, on January 15, 2007...we got to meet for the first time, and bring home, Wrigley and Cobalt. We love them both very much and are so happy to have them with us.

The cats are not bad looking considering they're cats. I'm sure they will love their habitat, provided they can find it.

G'day Wrigley and Cobalt, welcome to the web. You're looking very cute in your photos - and that's always handy in case you spill something or do anything else that humans consider 'wrong'. Cute and wide-eyed is a look that all young kittens should practise, just in case...
